Welcome
Casa Luz ("House of Light"), near San Jose, Costa Rica, is a haven for adolescent mothers who come from extreme poverty and have been abused and/or exploited.
Our purpose is to help these young mothers realize that they can have healthy lives, positive social interactions, and a nurturing relationship with their children. Our mission is to help them actualize this possibility by teaching the life skills needed to achieve a productive and independent future.
The home-like environment at Casa Luz is filled with love and acceptance while fostering responsibility and accountability, producing young women who consistently progress toward a brighter future.
Meet some of our beneficiaries
-
Mayela
I came to Casa Luz because I was pregnant; because I did not have family support and I was doing drugs, drinking and was involved in prostitution. I realized I needed to give my child a safe environment and that is why I am here in Casa Luz. -
Margarita
I ran away from home because my mother physically mistreated me and I belonged to a dysfunctional family. I had to support myself through prostitution. Furthermore, my son is ill; he suffers from epilepsy idiopathic and requires constant medical care. -
Tatiana
I came to Casa Luz because I was looking for a safe place for my daughter and myself. I was desperately looking for protection, peace of mind and professional psychological care.
